# Working with Indicators
When creating a project logic model, your team will work on indicators to measure and track progress toward your goals. It's crucial that these indicators meet the SMART criteria (opens new window) (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound). Following these criteria ensures that your indicators deliver more accurate and effective results.
# Creating an indicator
In the Indicators
tab, simply enter a name for the indicator and choose an objective to link it to. Once these two required fields are completed, hit enter to save.
# Indicator details
Depending on your project's relevance, you can fill out various additional indicator fields. We've conducted thorough research and established default fields to guide you in developing best practices for indicator management. These fields can be completed at the beginning or gradually over time. Consider this as a README file, documenting your indicators and serving as a reference for your team on planning and measuring these indicators.
# Data types
Below each indicator field, there is a specified data type indicating what can be entered in that field. This guidance will assist you in understanding what can be inputted for each field and how each field can be utilized in subsequent analysis and reporting.
# Hiding indicator fields
On the flip side, if you discover that certain indicator fields are unnecessary for your project, you can hide these fields to keep your indicator table more organized.
